Every year, I'm thrilled to team up with my lab mates to celebrate National Robotics Week at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. This epic event, drawing in a crowd of over 12,000 people (mostly kids!) over a span of two days, gives us a chance to inspire young minds and ignite their curiosity about robotics.
We get to set up our demonstrations in the heart of the museum. And let me tell you, there's nothing quite like the wide-eyed wonder of a child seeing our robotic arm and wheelchair in action for the first time. Our main mission? To share our passion for assistive robotics and show how it can make a difference in the world. Getting to experience the awesome science and unique exhibits at MSI each year is a nice bonus, too!
One of the best parts? We get to share our latest discoveries from our research, which we hope will inspire the next generation of roboticists. By the end of the event, we're aiming for one thing: a boost in the awareness among K-12 students of all backgrounds about the power of assistive robotics.
